The MPX culminated with a customary farewell steampast between the ships reaffirming the close friendship between the two navies. Prior to the 1975 ship reclassification, ships that are now classified as FF or FFG were classified as DE or DEG (destroyer escort). It includes all of the hull classification symbolsFF and FFG. On departure from Visakhapatnam, FS Surcouf undertook various exercises with IN ships Rana and Sumedha, which included tactical manoeuvres, replenishment at sea (RAS) approaches, air defence against fighter aircraft and cross deck helicopter operations. With a length of 166 metres and a displacement of up to 10,000 tonnes, the F126 frigates will be the largest in the German naval fleet. Navy frigate professional#
The French Navy’s La Fayette class frigate Surcouf visited Visakhapatnam from 26 – 29 June 2023 and participated in a variety of activities with Indian Navy ships which included professional and social interactions, sports fixtures and cross deck visits. Britain’s senior sailor First Sea Lord Admiral Tony Radakin today announced the names of the Type 31 frigates which will now be known as the Inspiration class. Indian Naval ships INS Rana, a guided missile destroyer, and INS Sumedha, an indigenously built offshore patrol vessel undertook a Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX) with French Navy ship FS Surcouf, in the Bay of Bengal on 30 June 2023. Based in Portsmouth and Devonport, the ships were designed to deal with the Soviet submarine threat but since the fall of Communism throughout the 1990s, the frigates have proven their versatility by dealing with virtually every mission imaginable in the four corners of the globe.
